Ignorance

so at my grandpa's funeral yesterday John Friesen the pastor at a church in Tillsonburg chose the very moment that my Grandfathers dead body was only a few feet away from me to inquire whether or not i go to church, OH then he went a step further to ask if i was really saved. Can i express how much i despise that man? I will never EVER step foot in that so called church again in my life. I cannot stand him and his innapropriateness and Unless he has ascended and thinks he's God who the hell does he think he is???? He did this to my sister years ago, TOLD her that she was not a christian (im sorry...is he all knowing???) my mom and dad put him in his place. I wanted to lash out at him so bad but out of respect for my grandfather (which he apparently has NO respect) I held my tongue. I just gave him a dirty look and ignored him till his wife very politely changed the subject. He is the reason that IFB churches have bad names. I will never EVER EVER speak to that man again. The kicker, i introduced him as "John Friesen" not pastor friesen. I have zero respect for that man. What a way to make a hard day even more unpleasant.

And you wonder why i dont' like church.

HOLY COW! I can completely sympathize with you girl! So sorry you had to go thru that at your grandpa's funeral. That shouldn't happen even if it wasn't a funeral. Tact is not a word in their dictionary. I remember him saying inappropriate things at Sue Harder's funeral...I was so ticked off! He thinks he will be sitting next to God in heaven.

I'm embarrassed to call him uncle. The word pastor should never proceed his name.

I told Al he was your uncle, and he goes "really?" i said ya, they're not close lol. You know i managed to avoid him for close to 10 years now, why i thought to give him a chance is beyond me. Ive learned my lesson. I must say though that Mary was very gracefull in changing the subject completly. For that i was gratefull cause i wanted to deck him.

Here is some useless information...

Last night Ted and I were watching a boring movie about Jesse James. Jesse James' dad was the pastor of a church called New Hope. lol!

Hi. I just stumbled onto your blog when a search for a Lester Roloff sermon pulled up your "You might be Baptist if..." list. Pretty funny. I could relate to a few of those.

You might guess, I'm one of those IndependentFundamentalBaptists, but please don't call me a "fundy." I hate that. Oh, okay, you can if you really want to. Anyway, congratulations on your impending marriage, and I'm sorry about your grandfather. I, too, recently lost a grandparent.

At the risk of sounding "preachy" and assuming that your comment about "not liking" church means you do not go to church. (A big assumption, I know), I sincerely hope you would reconsider. Every Christian needs a church home, and every marriage, too.

Here's my good old King James verse for people who left church because of mean church members (although I would never try to proselytize you mere inches away from a loved one's coffin): "Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?" (Jeremiah 2:5)

You may have found iniquity in a cruel pastor, but you have not found any iniquity in God Himself that would cause you to walk far from Him by getting out of church.

If this comment is offensive, please feel free to delete it. I'm more interested in you being in church and having a Christ-honoring marriage than I am in seeing this on the internet.

Thanks for reading.
